Jeffery undeterred by poor conditions in Penrith

Lauren Fitzsimons, Saturday, 23 February 2013

The weather has briefly delayed racing in Penrith this morning, however Robin Jeffery has produced another strong performance in the men's C1 semi-final in Penrith.

The poor conditions have not dampened spirits amongst the competitors with London Olympian Robin Jeffery leading the Aussies and placed 2nd overall following the completion of the Men's C1 Semi-final racing this morning.

Jeffery reinforced his qualification run yesterday with another strong performance making his intentions for national team selection clear.

Takuya Haneda of Japan takes a 0.77 second lead into the C1 final this afternoon.

Our junior stars Daniel Watkins, Andrew Eckhardt and Brodie Crawford have all faired well in wet and windy conditions with Daniel the best of the Aussie juniors in 17th overall. Jaxon Merritt was 15th and heads up the Under 23 athletes.

The ladies kayak semi-finals are underway now.
